Chapter Twenty Five - CV layout


Today post is how to set up a CV (curriculum Vitae)

  • I started off with my name, address, mobile number and email.
  • next to write a profile, about me
  • Key Strengths (only three, make them your best about yourself)
  • Career and Volunteer History (go back  only 5 years)
  • next to write is my person details
  • Education, Qualification and Training
  • Finally Hobbies and Interest
  • References on Request
It is best to keep your CV to one page, if you can.


Targets and goals for next week 1st of April 

I spend today finishing off my blog post and now that all up to date, YAY.
Now just need to do my weekly post and reflection on the last two modules and the final reflection of the whole course. I'm going to Pictoplasma in Berlin in May, so that be a big blog post. ^_^ Here the link to Pictoplasma
PPD done and posted and the book in progress and I have started the Adobe Awards.
so the targets are - 

  • sort out  a show reel
  • organise illustrations for my book (I have finished the writing part)
  • Finish my commission and Illustrations
  • write my commentary for my portfolio

Chapter Twenty Four - The next step after this course








Hope fully I plan to turn my foundation degree into a full one by doing a top up degree. I checked over all the college's and uni's and chosen a few, one being the one I'm at Newcastle college. Below is the personal statement I created.... not very interesting by it part of my personal and professional development part of my blog. Then it continues with my SWOT skills, job roles and Learning plan. This still needs to be finished...

Opportunities

The opportunities I have had though doing thing like volunteering, networking, and putting myself out there making friends within the industry. Doing searching for short courses on software programs, like Maya and Cinema 4D. Doing jobs searches and seeing what skills I need to get into the jobs I want.

Threats

The threats in my life are the outside elements of my life like my personal life, family life.


 
Job Roles – Creative Skillsets

Concept Artist

The job role of Concept Artist is to producing the illustrations that help Production Designers realise their vision, making sure their drawings are accurate and clear and adapting them as necessary during filming and using computer illustration software packages.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Understand what Directors, Directors of Photography and Editors require from a scene
·         Have excellent illustration skills
·         Be a strong communicator
·         Visualise perspective and 3D space
·         Visually interpret other people's ideas
·         Be flexible and adapt to change when asked
·         Work as part of a team
·         Know about relevant health and safety legislation and procedures

The Skills I need to learn –

·         Have up-to-date knowledge of computer illustration software packages
·         Be skilled in film imagery
·         Have a keen interest in design, architecture and film

Production Secretary (Animation)

The role of Production Secretary is to support Producers and animation production departments.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Be able to prioritise, multitask and use your own initiative
·         Be numerate, literate and capable of composing correspondence
·         Pay close attention to detail
The Skills I need to learn –

·         Be a bright, responsive communicator, both in person and on the telephone
·         Have good typing and general secretarial skills

Production Assistant (Animation)

The job of Production Assistant is to assisting in the smooth running of the production and supporting the Production Co-ordinator or Production Manager.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Have good communication skills
·         Have good organisational skills
·         Able to prioritise, multitask and use your own initiative
·         Numerate, literate and capable of taking accurate notes
·         Be able to take direction
·         Have good team-working skills
·         Pay close attention to detail

The Skills I need to learn –

·         Have good typing and IT skills, including use of spreadsheets and databases

Editing Assistant (Animation)

The role of an Editing Assistant is to support the Editor(s) and editing department, including logging the audio and visual material received, loading it into the computer and keeping detailed records.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Pay close attention to detail and be thorough and meticulous
·         Able to take direction
·         Have good communication skills
·         Have good team-working skills
·         Appreciate the importance of a schedule
·         Be prepared to respect the editors' or studios' working practices
·         Show discretion if you are working on a confidential project

The Skills I need to learn –

·         Have knowledge of the technical aspects of the equipment



Runner (Animation)

The job role of Runner is to provide support and backup wherever it might be required within an animation studio and support the production office and editing department in particular.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Helpful, presentable and articulate
·         Have good basic literacy and numeracy skills
·         Have good communication skills
·         Have an interest in animation and develop knowledge of the production process while in the role
·         Be able to cope under pressure
·         Be able to accept and act on instructions from all quarters
·         Respond quickly to requests and show initiative in prioritising your tasks
·         Show initiative and have good problem-solving skills

The Skills I need to learn –
·          

Inbetweener

The job of the Inbetweener is product the drawings between key poses in order to complete the illusion of movement and action.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Possess excellent drawing skills, to be able to adapt to the style and technique of different productions
·         Able to take direction
·         Have good team-working skills
·         Have good communication
·         Have a high degree of patience
·         Show respect for the procedures and requirements of a particular studio, production or pipeline
·         Pay close attention to detail

The Skills I need to learn –

·         Have good presentation skills

CG Modeller

CG Modeller job is to build three-dimensional computer models of everything that is needed for a CGI projects.

The Skills I feel I have –

·         Thinking in 3D
·         Able to follow design reference accurately and work in a range of styles
·         Good drawing skills, including use of light and shadow, along with a good understanding of anatomy
·         Good problem-solving skills
·         Good communication skills
·         Good team-working skills
·         Able to take direction and be willing to address constructive feedback
·         Able to work with a minimum of supervision
·         Able to function as team leader
·         Able to deliver on schedule, working calmly and efficiently under pressure
·         Show respect for the procedures and requirements of a particular studio, production or pipeline

The Skills I need to learn –

·         Able to create moderate to complex and organic models
·         Able to model characters, props and environments, working to a good level of finish
·         Strong sense of scale, form, weight and volume
·         Good understanding of modelling with either Polygons or NURBS (Non-uniform rational basis spline)
·         Able to do UV mapping
·         Knowledge of the requirements of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures

Learning Plan




  • Well first step for my was to search for top up year... I'm able to look far afield so my only option was the college I was already at
  • I have applied and had my interview and got a conditional offer, yay
  • Now I need to look for short course on 3D software so I can expand my knowledge in that area... this will be difficult for I can't do evening, child and all.
  • and if that all goes to pot... I work on my children books 
  • and take on short course in cinema 4D and Maya
  • Volunteer for Illustration projects, like Live Tales

Chapter Twenty Three - Aims and Targets



I not managed to finish off my blog posts this week been busy being lazy... haha
well I worked hard to finish my modules off and burnt myself out... so I chilled... semi regret this
Now I have to get myself in gear, I have about three weeks to build and sort out my book for publishing to sent off... along with live projects to do and write up.
I will say I feel a bit lost on what I have to do... my  mind this sorting out a plan of action.
I want to devote myself to sorting this book but I have to keep up with other module as well so....


Here my targets for next week of the 21st march (and the Easter holidays)

  • Keep my blog up to date....(still need to finish that post ;_;)
  • Do my PPD task (which i'm a little confused on how to layout but I get there)
  • Do an piece for the Adobe Awards... (for work based learning module)
  • Build up my build my book with Illustrations, try do one a week day and create show reel
I don't plan it finish this all in one week, I trying gather everything I need to do together so it easier to work through.

Chapter Twenty Two - Colour Correction


Colour correction in Adobe Premiere Pro





  • I loaded my footage into Adobe Premiere Pro
  • then added effects - Fast colour corrector, lumetri colour, three-way colour corrector and RGB curves.
  • Fast colour corrector - on white balance- eye dropper -then chose the white-est part of my footage and did the same with the black level.
  • Lumetri colour - added a vignette
  • Three-Way colour corrector - added colour to my shadows and light making sure that they are opposite to each other. 
  • RGB curves - I moved the master line to a little curves and curves a little red into it at well.


















Chapter Twenty One - Reflection

Reflecting back over the last two modules

Module Four - Compositing

In this module I had to create three animated shorts from three of the seven story types, The Quest, Comedy, Rebirth, Rags to Riches, Overcoming the monster, Tragedy and Voyage and Return. Taken from Shutterstock brief.  I chose to do Rebirth, Rags to Riches and The Quest - Rebirth - Fast cars - I did to show a pasting of time, saying really that life is short.
- Rags to Riches - Coin's Adventure - short story on coins journey to some where better???
- Thee Quest - Bin Monster - Story of an upset monster cleaning up the rubbish.
I had fun in this module and is proud of what I achieved.

My strengths for this module are -


  • Sticking to my targets and time plan
  • working in Cinema 4D
My weaknesses for this module are -
  • Adobe After Effect, and not knowing the program very well
  • My making of guide could of been written better







Module Five - Contextual Studies Two

In this module I had to write an Essay of my choosing, I chose to write about 'What impact has 3D Software had on the commercial industry?' I looked at the evolution of 3D software and how it improved over the years and different influences that the commercial industry faces, like cultural, social, environmental and economic factors. I didn't enjoy this very much I'm not a fan of writing.

My strengths for this module are - 

  • My Research on my subject
  • My Organization skills
My weaknesses for this module are -
  • Spelling and grammar
  • Lack of confidence with my work and my own ability
