Chapter Five - Cliffhanger

This is the part where something goes wrong, I like to say it has happened but this time around it has. Personal Life seems to have thrown a spanner in the works, and I'm not going to get as much done as I wish. But thats okay because I just polish the work I can do 'Hopefully'. I have had to stop working on my second concept board because i don't have time to get it finished but hopefully that will be replaced with 3D concept board if the 3D Model turns out okay.

3D Model work

Here my progress from last week of building up my 3D Model. It's still a work in progress but will be finished this week. What can I say, building up the face is challenge, hopefully it got it right. All that left is to put the hair in and reflect and add tail.

Targets for this week, to be completed for next Monday :-

  1. Finish 3D model and start to rig out character.
  2. Finish writing up research for Essay.
  3. Do some writing up of develop (remember to link research with it).
  4. Finish 2D walk cycle.

Chapter Four - Targets, targets, TARGETS

Here my weekly update on my targets, past and present, having made a good start my targets for last week, completed 1 and the other 2 were an on going targets. Below shows screen shot of the start of my 3D character but having a old laptop means I can't work on my 3D model at home.

Above show the development of one my concept boards, this shows my turn a round which has few mistake which I spotted at the end when coloured it all up, haha... it's going to bug me but Hey lets see if you can spot them, I challenge you, it's not difficult to spot. Also I have put my helpful ninja in to show the colours I used.
One of my targets for next week is to have either complete the second concept board or be nearly finished. To have my back story, facial Expressions and an action shot, all on my next board.

This week targets are, to be completed for next Monday -

  1. Start and hopefully complete second concept board.
  2. Complete my assets for my 2D walk cycle (may be do run cycle if all goes well).
  3. Write up the development as I go.
  4. Research for my Essay.

Chapter Three - My own Research

Feltiriums

Cristina Toro Ulloa is a designer, fibres artist that lives in Coquimbo, Chile. Feltiriums is a name of a series of dolls made with felt needle. They were created as form of expression and each doll is unique and unrepeatable. The technique he uses is called felt needle to create sculpture in 3D from fleece fibres with aid of special needle. This needle has teeth that trap each fibre in it. These dolls are ego-friendly, having no toxic substances. I have added this to my research because I was look at ways I could make my character simpler. You can check out this Awesome Artist on www.feltiriums.com.

To research my character I used a book called ‘Japanese Comickers’ which has loads of different artist work and how they make their art.

Hirofumi Fujiko

Her techniques are to use colours for the basic outline and uses Copic Markers and watercolour pencils to add tones and details. Her style is to be efficient and emphasize.  I like Hirofumi Fujiko simple style and soft shading.

Nanamirio

I love Nanamirio techniques in creating her artwork and that I feel it gives life paper. The technique is uses are Copic markers and refilling ink and her developed her own special way of using colourless blender. Her style is simple and she tells stories within her work. Also uses folklore to help her create interesting artwork.

Targets

My targets for this week are, to be completed for next Monday-
  1. Finish off my turn around and create an A3 character board.
  2. Start my 2D animation walk cycle.
  3. Do some development write up.

Chapter Two - Reflection

In this chapter i'm going to write about 'reflection' of past modules and set myself targets for the coming weeks.

Look back over my first 4 modules that I have done, the first module where I had to create a loop animation using the keyword 'Childhood', I enjoyed creating the walk cycle and coming up with ideas for the concept. My strengths for that module were -

  1. I think I'm good at setting myself target/short term goals to complete every week. Keeping to a deadline.
  2. listening
  3. picking up new skills quickly.
My weakness for that module were -

  1. Sticking to an idea, I have a very bad habit of changing my mind or think up better idea half way through a project.
  2. poor writing skills, spelling and grammar.
  3. Lack of knowledge of technique/skills of software.

Jumping forward to the module I'm working on now. Reflecting on the last week work, my character design and backstory. I was struggling with ideas but talking with my peers helped me come up with I say boring but simple character story. Going back to my weakness and not being able to make my mind up and lack of confidence in myself.
Lesson work we were shown how to work with illustrator and working with shapes to create a character. I struggled a bit illustrator to began with because I like working with lines than shapes and I'm super messy drawer, illustrator neat and clean.

Targets for next week, to be completed for next Monday -

  1. Finishes my character designs.
  2. Finishes my turn around for my character.
  3. Write up my 3D character research.

My First Animation

Here my first try at cinema 4D, to make 2d animation. It's not brilliant but it's a start.

The way in way I learn the best

The way in which I think I learn the best is by doing and listening, good mix of the two, having the person in front of me so I can ask questions and for help when needed.
I find working by reading or tutorials difficult because I have no one go to when I'm unsure. Writing is a biggest weakness and everything that goes with it, spelling and grammar.

Harvard Referencing

For module 6 is to write an Essay and research in which we have to use Harvard Referencing. This is the first time I had to use this and looked for support with my peer and my husband, who is also doing a degree. okay, Harvard Referencing is way of showing found and where you found your information, for example:-
