Chapter Eighteen - Compositing continued

Tracked footage

Now on the latest version of Cinema 4D has add a new area called 'Motion Track', up at the top where file, etc goes. This has made my life so much easier for it works all the motion for you. Then we will export the footage to after effect and mask out the tree so the object appears behind it.

  • so how you load the footage in would be to - Motion Track
  • Full Solve - load in the file
  • and Cinema 4D will do the rest
  • All you need to do the when it finished (it even puts a camera in for you) is click on create a background so when you render the footage shows up on the screen.

  • Next we need to render out two version of the footage one with the object in and one without.
  • Now open up After Effects
  • Set you setting to the correct things -  HDTV 1080 25 and load your footage on
  • drag the two footage in and make sure the one with the object in, is on the top
  • Now select the layer with the object in (the footage) and add mask which is in layers - New Mask
  • uses the pen tool and draw around the tree, record it and move the timeline to the end and reline the tree up again and it will automatically record that
  • go and check the animation to make sure everything lines up and looks right
  • and pre-render and below the finished product.

  • Next I open Photoshop put my setting film HD TV 1080
  • deleted the background, added a new layer called track and drew a loop and lower the opacity
  • then made a new l  layer and drew an arrow on it
  • then did that again with a new layer but moved it a bit along my track
  • and kept doing this until it have done the loop
  • then I went to window - timeline - set at frames
  • and set up the animation through the layers
  • checked it and added 0.1 sec to all frames and
  • rendered it out
  • Now opened a new after effects project imported the the newly render finished scene form earlier and imported the Photoshop work
  • Photoshop on the top, new mask, pen out the half tree so it looks like the arrow looping the tree.
  • Then put a colour overlay on the arrow and keyframe one colour then went to the end of the animation and keyframed a different colour.
  • lastly I added a shadow by darging the footage from the top box again, distroting the image and placing it where I think the shadow would fall
  • low the opacity and blur the edges by added a blur effect to it and keyframing it.
  • Then here my little animated short below.

Still Image

Here just more practice on creating a still compositing shot. Just making sure I got the techniques down, which I feel that have.

Targets for next week - Friday

  • Finish writing up the research for my blog
