Chapter Sixteen - Research

Well I knew this would be coming....

and still need to finish the other blog post, I will be writing up about corporate animation companies within this blog to aim in getting a nice high grade at the end, I hope. But you guys are rooting for my right????

Note it not finished - I will try and update it every week until I get it finished. I have it real hard to do and half the time I wonder if i'm even writing about the right thing. I try my best to give justices to animation I write about but I feel I'm doing a really poor job at it, anyway, so sorry guys.

Pleix - Nissan-Qashqai

The style is simple 2D design and it's layout is the art/action is set in the mid-ground and back ground. The techniques in this animation I think are  compositing in software like Cinema 4D, and after effects. It fit in with the present culture the character designs with there indie style. The animation pace is steady and the action is evenly distributed through out the animation. The narrative purpose is to commercial and help show off the car the company, Nissan wants to sell.

Sehsucht - Optifibre Amazon - Director's Cut

The style for the adverting looks to be drawn but has that 3D feel but when you look at the Director's cut and how it was created in 3D and made everything look like liquid. I love the flow and layout out and the use of wide shots and close up to portray what was happening in the scene. The techniques that have been used, I think was some 3D software to set up the scene, to create the models then for the commercial put on this drawn style and shading over the 3D models to give depth to the animation. It's narrative purpose is to advert a product. The animation pace is slow, it hits it peak about in the middle, with the female characters shooting their bows then slowly plateaus off at the end.

Not to scale - Hula - Rightmove

The style of this adverting animated short is simple with an orange background and vector style with different shades of orange. It's layout is just one character in the foreground, a Hula model dancing with voices over top as sound that tell the narrative. The Techniques used, I think are 3D software to create the 3D model.

Hornet Inc - Cineplex

The concept of this animated short was to advertise the to help visualize the magic of the movie. It's commercial narrative is about a girl, Lily and her snowman. The techniques used I think were 3D software like cinema 4D. The style is semi-realistic and it sort of cartoon style with it organic shapes and soft lines and colours. The composition and layout is that it has a mix of shot from wide to close up. The animation timing and pace is even and steady builds up to its peak near the end of the animation.

Psyop - Estee Lauder 'La Mer'

This is an advertisement for Estee Lauder skin care. I really like this 2D animated short with painted style of drawing, it feels like a lot of love and care went in to this animation. I love the uses of soft colour and shading it gives a organic feel to the scenes. Also a lot of textures have been used I think this add depth to the animation. The techniques that could of been used are may be Photoshop and after effect or I fell that some kind of 3D software was used, that helped give depth to the film. I feel that this commercial plays out like a story, and the story has a narrative that puts you in.

Punga - CHS Tree

The style is realistic and techniques I think they could of used in cinema 4D the MoSpline growing out. It's  narrative is commercial to help sell a product. The animation is evenly paced even though the grow of the tree super  fast.

Pepper Melon - Target - friends with you

Its a 3D animation that looks to have been drawn/ vector style art. The style is simple and organic. The concept is commercial, promoting a game. This fun and funny narrative makes the character stand out. The animated short is really busy load of things happening and to look at. The technique that looks to have been used, is 3D software like Maya.

Tokyo Plastic - Year of the Machine

This is two animated trailers, the first on techniques looks 3D and the second looks like it was hand drawn. The style of the first trailer is simple design and uses strong colours and the second trailer style is 2D beautiful textures and soft colours. The concept for both is a narrative and may be experimental, trying out new skills or stories. The animated short have lovely pace and build up well with the use of peaks, trough and plateaus.

Meind Blender - Gifts for Greta

'Gifts for Greta' has used the technique of Stop motion to create this animated short. The style is simple and organic. The concept is commercial to show off a TV channel Cartoon Network.

Animation to Music:

Andy Martin's Planet One - His website

The style is simple and organic. The animation fits in with the music awesomely. I find the concept interesting and the characters interesting to watch. The concept is may be experimental, to tell a story through music, using the music to create the animation. The technique is 2D, they could of used Adobe After Effects.

Beeple - IV.10

The technique is 3D and Cinema 4D and the style is simple, vector and organic shapes. Strong colours, bright with cel shading. The concept is experimental, using the music to create animated short.
