For all good stories have beginning.
And I thought I try make this an interesting read, if everything else fails.... wing it?
3D character Research, we were given a list of company and Animators names where we have to pick a character and write up about them.
Fons Schiedon
In
the last module I looked at fons schiedon for his style of art and animation. In
this module I’m going to look at his 3D character design, development, concept
and technique. The first animation of a 3D character I'm looking at is ‘In a
forest’ a short film about a rabbit running through the forest, being chase by
some creature. What I liked about this animation and its 3D character was as
the animation moved through it story, it like devolved and ended up looking
like a stun man on a green screen. As shown by screen shots below. The
character concept was I think to show how the animation works, the fear of the
chase and change in the character was interesting and enjoyable to watch. The
style was like showing you how animation was created than watching a story.
Tokyo Plastic
This is the Character Design for Nike Cortez Brothers. Below shows a series of concept artwork on how Tokyo Plastic did the character design for Nike. The concept was to turn shoes into people. The style is sleek. I like how the character look like people but you can still see that they are trainers.David Oreilly
The screen shot below shows the character ‘Galaxy Boy’ a
mascot creation for new Japanese Animation Festival Georama. The concept is a
mascot, of simple 3D design, looks to be a fun quirky character. The technique
is that it looks that it could have been made in cinema 4D.
Saiman Chow
This was an animation for ‘72 and Sunny’ and it’s called
‘Shopzilla’. Its concept is an advertisement to show off shopzilla.com. The
style is colourful and shape, I like how there soft shadow giving the animation
depth. This screen shots from an animation called ‘katch’. The technique is
Stop Motion, using plasticine. The style is simple, handmade feel to this
animation. The concept is in celebration of Sanrio 25th anniversary in Hong
Kong.
Pepper Melon
The
picture below of the broccoli called ‘Brock O' Lee’ this character
has been created by Pepper Melon. The concept is broccoli
being ‘Green with Envy’ which is the name of the animation that this 3D
character stars in. The style is cartoon and metamorphic character, with the
broccoli having humanoid feature, for example arms and legs.

Partizan Lab
The
screen shot below is of the Tooth Fairy a 3D character an advertisement for
Bupa. The style is simple cartoon like 3D character with a bit an anime
influence I can see in the eyes and face. Also it has a hand drawn feel to the
animation.
Psysop
Below shows a screen shot of a game called Clash of Clans, the trailer called “Clan
Wars”. The concept is that they had to create a trailer for a game called Clash
of Clans. The style is cartoony and simple and realistic in a way that
everything in right place for example they look human, they don’t have wings or
horns.
Hornet Inc
The
screen shot below is for Permanent TSB by Peter Sluszka. The concept was to
create an advertisement for Permanent TSB. The style is quite realistic models and
I like all the detail that been put into it. The technique looks to be stop motion.
Passion Pictures
The
screen shot below shows Rollin’ Wild – Montage. The concept was to work a documentary
on these morphed animals. I love the style of these balloon type characters and
simple story line is really funny.
Punga
The screen shot below shows
‘Spaziai’ animation made by Punga in 2012 for Italian TV channel Fox Retro. The concept is that 2 3D characters are
playing a game in which is happening in background at the same time. This was creating
for TV channel Fox Retro as an advertisement.
Studio AKA
The screen shot below shows
an animation called ‘Lost and Found’ which was a Winner of a BAFTA for
Best Children’s Animation and has a total of 61 International Awards to date.
The concept is friendship. The style is simple cartoony, looks bit like it was
made with models but I believe it was created by computer software.
Panda Panther
The screen shots below
shows animation called ‘Asics Onitsuka Tiger’. The concept was to tell the
story of the animals of the zodiac and how they were put in there order. The
style is very detailed and The technique
is Stop motion and it amazing to see how they created this animation with all
the hundreds models made. The technique used was mix of Stop Motion and
animation software.
